VOODOO FEST: WHERE THE FREAKS COME OUT TO PLAY

Can I get your attention please?! Let me just start off by saying...I'm coming clean. I don't mean to offend anyone but I am one of these so called "FREAKS." This whole past month I was plotting what I was going to wear to Voodoo Fest, and as usual, I put stuff together a day before the trip. I try to be more responsible by packing earlier...and it never works. I'm used to it and it's all good. No hard feelings toward myself here!

Before I went on this little enlightening journey in Nola, I had no idea what to expect. I could have never imagined the sensory overload that I experienced down there. I could not have asked for anything better. It was pure magic and I can honestly say that my life has changed because of it. I was trying to describe this feeling to my husband earlier, but I couldn't come across the right words. Maybe I will try explaining it to you...This week has been about me trying to gather myself after this event and picking back up where I left off before going to Nola.

You're about to find out some stuff about me right here...I think I was a hippie in a past life.

If you have been following me on Instagram and have noticed that I haven't all the way been there with my posts this week, it's because something has changed inside my little caged up heart. It has taken me four days to come out of whatever weird haze my mind has been on this past weekend. I have an underlying suspicion that being around a huge crowd of people has given me this weird air of wanting to love thy neighbor harder than I normally do. Maybe it's just the fall giving season that's hitting me right in the feels. I'm not sure why I'm writing about it, but I feel compelled to explain where my head space is at the moment--in the clouds. I know, I know...I'm running a style blog here. I promise better content is about to hit this place, but it is weirding me out that my sense of urgency has left the building. I'm praying that it comes back to me real soon. I have a feeling this next month will be all about experimental style. Attending Voodoo had to be one of the coolest fashion experiences I could have ever asked for. Take these photos as an interesting new beginning on La Bohemianna.

Please send me an email or leave me a comment if you have any questions :)) I'm always open to them! If you want to know more about Voodoo Fest don't hesitate to ask!

FEMALE EMPOWERMENT IS THE NEW PRADA + SQUAD OUTFIT DETAILS

Behind every spunky, dare-to-be-different, confident girl is a group of women who have led her to believe that her ideas are brilliant and she cannot be stopped. And if someone tries...the wrath of a thousand felines will be unleashed. Yes, these are my sweet feline friends. My name is Jenessy and I'm a feminist. Welcome to the group.

These ladies right here are absolutely amazing. They are the definition of a true female friend. The force of friendship with these ones is strong. If you have ever gotten close and personal with me, you will have learned two things. One, I'm quiet when you think you know me and I have no limits when you do. Two, I refuse to waste time talking about my feelings. There's nothing wrong with having feelings, because everyone has them. I just don't want to push them on others...unless I have to. Well, I 'm about to unleash some feelings and you have been warned. (If you come for the fashion and not this long ass story, then please scroll down to the outfit details.)

LET'S GET STARTED, SHALL WE?!

The natural beauty that you see to your left is named Mikayla. She has the magic touch on all these pictures. She's my photographer! If she will let me claim her...I'm claiming her! We met in high school but we never really hung out until our Freshman year of college. She guided me to my lovely husband. If I had not met her...I don't know if I would have met him that fall evening at the college radio station. Since I have known Mikayla, I have thrown ideas out there and she's always like, "You should do it!" and I always do. I even wrote a children's book in Spanish and English that hopefully one day we could publish with her illustrations. Throughout the time that I have known her...she has never put me down but she has always been honest. Sincerity seems like it's becoming harder to find as I get older and this is something that I will always cherish. She's a hardworking single mom to a beautiful little girl named Isla...and she does an amazing job. Isla is as free spirited as her mommy is and that's such a huge blessing. Being friends with Mikayla has taught me that I don't need to be afraid to be who I am.

This beautiful soul to the right is Alicia! We have also been friends since high school and it wasn't until recently that I had found that she was a fellow hippie soul'ed individual. This could be why we get along so well. She has so many qualities that have also pushed me to own who I am unapologetically. One of the best qualities that this chica has is her strong personality. She is always my adventuring friend. If it sounds like fun, then we will most likely do it! Our friendship isn't all on the surface. She's the friend who knows ALL of the details even if she doesn't want to. Honestly, she gets the privilege of knowing because she always pushes me in the right direction. And believe me, if I'm wrong for something...I will know. These girls are the best! We all help each other be better humans and we lift each other up. This is what friendship and female empowerment is supposed to be.

Now that I have bored you with my love story...please find these outfit details below. Thank you for being patient and reading on. Happy Hump Day, lovelies!

NOW TRENDING: ROCKING THE SHIRT UNDER DRESS TREND WITH A ROMPER

PHOTOGRAPHY BY MIKAYLA HART

It's no surprise that here I am...yet again, doing another blog post about a ROMPER! I believe I have found my favorite type of clothing. Rompers are so cozy, easy to wear, and versatile. One romper can have at least five different looks. Did I do my math correctly? Not sure...Math is not my major...Psychology is. But I can tell you that you will feel exhilarated with this outfit. It's the perfect balance between making a bold[er] statement with really chic pieces.

When I first started blogging a few weeks ago, I looked online for stores that had unique pieces that related most to my style. In the process, I fell in love with TOBI and everything they had to offer. It seems like everything that I buy from there, I can't seem to take off. This choker, romper, and shoes are all from there! Maybe one day soon, I can be sponsored by them...because I AM OBSESSED! Not only do they house chic clothing, but they are actually great quality. I'm looking forward to my future purchases.

This outfit is such an easy and trendy fall transition style. I paired this pink romper with a black crop top underneath for some flair. Throw on that cute leather backpack and you are good to go! What I love most is how low maintenance this outfit truly is; especially for some of us ladies that have to be on the run with our babies. I think this romper covers the bases as a "do anything and go" type of outfit. Date night? Check! Brunch with the girls? Check! Pumpkin Picking? Uh...Check! Yeah girl, you go pick those pumpkins looking mighty fine. Mmmhmm...And when you're done please let me know, what has been your favorite fall trend so far? Feel free to send me any questions you have!

Bye, loves! I hope your Sunday has been magnificent ;)

ROMPING AROUND

PHOTOGRAPHY BY MIKAYLA HART

FALL IS HERE! The chilly fall breeze comes to visit with feelings of nostalgia and comfort. It brings about those high school feelings of sneaking out at night with your closest friends, just to meet up at the levee. It tastes just like my first sip of wine hitting the bottom of my belly. Most of all, it brings back memories of driving around late at night with Lissie blaring on my car stereo. I’m sure I’m not the only one going down memory lane these nights! What are your favorite fall memories?
One thing that I love about fall is the opportunity of making new memories and traditions. This year my hubby and I are fortunate enough to have two toddlers running around. Amidst all the beautiful chaos, we still manage to set time aside to take each other out on the town and make our own little memories, aside from the girls.
I’m planning on wearing this outfit next time we decide to get away from the kiddos. This romper is extremely comfortable and hugs all the right places. I tend to hide my cleavage, so I really like that this romper shows off just enough cleavage…without anything “falling out.” I love, love, love this color scheme of plaid and burgundy. I was lucky to have found these burgundy boots on Nordstrom Rack, under $30! These boots can add a pop of color to any neutral outfit! This outfit is definitely going into the favorites pile:)

P.S. The romper & earrings are on sale! Get to it:P

Plaid in Tulsa

TOP: FOREVER 21; SHORTS: DILLARDS, SOLD OUT(SIMILAR HERE) ; CHOKER: TOBI, SOLD OUT(SIMILAR HERE); EARRINGS: SIMILAR AT EARTHBOUND TRADING CO. ; BRACELET: EARTHBOUND TRADING CO.; SHOES: TOBI; PURSE: KATE SPADE (SIMILAR HERE)

Plaids, plaids, plaids! It's time to bring out your plaid frocks. Some of us(maybe just me) have been dodging the plaid for a while now and we(I) have realized that it is time to embrace it. It has worked in the summer, so why not bring it into the fall. I know I'm rocking this plaid top with these shorts, but I've got 3 more hours until fall...so I better hurry it up with this post...Damn, I'm always last minute!

[Skip the plaid jargon here...I really just want to tell you about my weekend trip...]

This past weekend, my friend Mikayla and I decided to take a road trip to Tulsa, Oklahoma. We weren't sure what Tulsa would be like, since we have never been to Oklahoma. One of my favorite places that we visited was a cute little restaurant, Chimera, found in the hipster side of town. The menu was full of vegan options and gourmet coffee...these two things make me a happy girl. The quaint setting was perfect for enjoying a latte or two. If you know me, you know that I was in heaven. I'm not trying to put a label on it, but if you can call it hipster...I love it. This plaid outfit was perfect for taking in the sunshine and living in la la land for the weekend. I would definitely recommend Tulsa for a nice laid back weekend. Oh, and before I leave you...these shoes are badass! I got them from Tobi and they are giving me life!

Happy almost Fall!
