ROMPING AROUND

PHOTOGRAPHY BY MIKAYLA HART

FALL IS HERE! The chilly fall breeze comes to visit with feelings of nostalgia and comfort. It brings about those high school feelings of sneaking out at night with your closest friends, just to meet up at the levee. It tastes just like my first sip of wine hitting the bottom of my belly. Most of all, it brings back memories of driving around late at night with Lissie blaring on my car stereo. I’m sure I’m not the only one going down memory lane these nights! What are your favorite fall memories?
One thing that I love about fall is the opportunity of making new memories and traditions. This year my hubby and I are fortunate enough to have two toddlers running around. Amidst all the beautiful chaos, we still manage to set time aside to take each other out on the town and make our own little memories, aside from the girls.
I’m planning on wearing this outfit next time we decide to get away from the kiddos. This romper is extremely comfortable and hugs all the right places. I tend to hide my cleavage, so I really like that this romper shows off just enough cleavage…without anything “falling out.” I love, love, love this color scheme of plaid and burgundy. I was lucky to have found these burgundy boots on Nordstrom Rack, under $30! These boots can add a pop of color to any neutral outfit! This outfit is definitely going into the favorites pile:)

P.S. The romper & earrings are on sale! Get to it:P

Plaid in Tulsa

TOP: FOREVER 21; SHORTS: DILLARDS, SOLD OUT(SIMILAR HERE) ; CHOKER: TOBI, SOLD OUT(SIMILAR HERE); EARRINGS: SIMILAR AT EARTHBOUND TRADING CO. ; BRACELET: EARTHBOUND TRADING CO.; SHOES: TOBI; PURSE: KATE SPADE (SIMILAR HERE)

Plaids, plaids, plaids! It's time to bring out your plaid frocks. Some of us(maybe just me) have been dodging the plaid for a while now and we(I) have realized that it is time to embrace it. It has worked in the summer, so why not bring it into the fall. I know I'm rocking this plaid top with these shorts, but I've got 3 more hours until fall...so I better hurry it up with this post...Damn, I'm always last minute!

[Skip the plaid jargon here...I really just want to tell you about my weekend trip...]

This past weekend, my friend Mikayla and I decided to take a road trip to Tulsa, Oklahoma. We weren't sure what Tulsa would be like, since we have never been to Oklahoma. One of my favorite places that we visited was a cute little restaurant, Chimera, found in the hipster side of town. The menu was full of vegan options and gourmet coffee...these two things make me a happy girl. The quaint setting was perfect for enjoying a latte or two. If you know me, you know that I was in heaven. I'm not trying to put a label on it, but if you can call it hipster...I love it. This plaid outfit was perfect for taking in the sunshine and living in la la land for the weekend. I would definitely recommend Tulsa for a nice laid back weekend. Oh, and before I leave you...these shoes are badass! I got them from Tobi and they are giving me life!

Happy almost Fall!

FLORALS IN FALL

It's that time of the year again, where we are raising our eyebrows, oohing and ahhing at the trends set for the upcoming Fall and Spring. It's New York Fashion Week! While I don't exactly have access to all these posh events, I have been keeping up religiously this year. Thanks to all of Instagram's help, I can watch the runway shows, living vicariously through the top style bloggers. Hey! That could be me one day, accidentally spilling coffee on my designer top at the corner of Fifth Avenue. I know that's bound to happen...me spilling coffee on myself, because I always manage to do so. I typically have the attitude that you should just wear whatever the hell you want, but there's nothing wrong with being painfully curious.

The fall fashion forecast is calling for florals this year. You get to keep all of your florals and just transition them into fall. I guess this sort of means that we get to keep a little bit of summer in our lives, and I am not complaining about that! This romper has been one of my easiest pieces to put together. Which to be honest, I'm a pretty lax person, so most of my pieces are usually easy to put together, but this is a romper and it really can't get easier than that. What I love most about this romper is how versatile it is to style and wear. You can easily play it down or play it up. The floral patterns on this romper are very Mexico meets Baroque...pretty interesting combination. Since we are still stuck in summer--and keep in mind, I live in Louisiana--I am still wearing this romper with sandals, but as the weather begins getting cooler, I'm looking forward to all the booties and jackets I can wear with this look. I hope you're as excited as I am! Below are links to shop a fall version of this look. Enjoy!

Last Call For Summer...Just kidding!

TOP:COTTON ON, Circa 2014 (SIMILAR HERE for $14); SHORTS: SEE THRU SOUL AT DILLARDS (SIMILAR HERE FOR $20); SHOES: FOREVER 21; EARRINGS: FOREVER 21 (SIMILAR HERE); SHADES: H&M

PURSE: EXPRESS, Circa 2014 (SIMILAR HERE); BRACELETS: FOREVER 21 (SIMILAR HERE); BELT: BANANA REPUBLIC; RINGS: FOREVER 21

It's almost fall guys!!!! And I don't think that I'm ready to let the summer go. I know that I live in Louisiana and the heat here is absolutely disgusting--Like you step outside and are immediately drenched in sweat--But still I just want to hold on to the long days of summer, because they are so full of hope and energy. Not that fall should be less energetic and hopeful, but there's something special about these long endless days. They will surely be missed and I will hold on to the rest of summer, hold it tight, and set it free on September 22nd--with farewell balloons and long black gloves to match my wayfarer glasses to disguise the sadness in my eyes--you get the point.

We will soon be moving on to our pumpkin latte traditions and cable knit sweaters. And now that I think about those two things, I think I might just be alright. It's not like I live in Alaska, anyway. I'm sure I will be wearing shorts and sweaters soon, since Louisiana weather is just mother nature on a hormonal rampage.

While the summer is still here, I can share with you one of my fave outfits. Ever since denim on denim became a thing, I have been obsessed with mixing it up. There's something so strong about wearing two denim pieces and throwing in some big jewelry. Talk about statement! It's played down to be played up all over again. I'm obsessed! I have provided links to the items or similar items, as an easy way for you to shop.

As we begin waving goodbye to summer and look forward to the cooler evenings, I would love to hear about your favorite denim pieces and how you style it up. Comment below :)
